Jiaxin Nong

Weather, in formation

Lon Gallery
Wednesday 25 FebruarySaturday 21 March

LON Gallery is thrilled to present Weather, in formation a solo exhibition by Chinese born, Australian based artist Jiaxin Nong.

Weather, in formation comprises a suite of oil paintings in which vigorous gestural mark making and a finely tuned sense of colour transform lived experience into visual form.

Jiaxin Nong’s practice is deeply informed by migration and cultural identity. Born in Guangzhou and relocating to Australia in 2009, Nong navigates the tensions between Eastern and Western artistic traditions, methods, and concepts. This dual perspective allows her work to respond to shifting conditions of place, language, and belonging, while also reflecting life’s inherent state of flux. Her practice evolves across media, with painting often serving as the nucleus of a wider multidisciplinary exploration.Nong completed studies at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in China, before relocating to Naarm/Melbourne, Australia to undertake further study. She holds Diploma of Visual Art from RMIT and a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Victorian College of the Arts, where she was the winner of the Joel Gallery Emerging Artist Award in her graduate year.

Select exhibitions include; Audiobook, Artereal Gallery, Sydney, Long Take, Title Untitled Presents, Melbourne, Metamorphic Romanc, Artereal Gallery, Sydney, Jiaxin Nong, Gallery Jones, Melbourne, Through Time and Space, The Museum of Chinese Australian History, Melbourne, SPRING 1883 (with Artereal Gallery), Sydney Contemporary (with Artereal Gallery), Melbourne Art Fair (with Tristian Koenig Gallery) and Bewildering, Luren Gallery, SuZhou, China.
